London Faces Major Travel Disruptions This Weekend
London Faces Major Travel Disruptions This Weekend
London, March 28–29, 2026 — Travelers across London are being urged to plan ahead this weekend as widespread disruptions hit the city’s transport network due to scheduled engineering works.
One of the most significant impacts will be at Liverpool Street Station, which will be completely closed throughout the weekend. While the Elizabeth Line will continue operating, access to the main station will be unavailable, potentially causing confusion and delays for passengers.
The Elizabeth Line itself will face partial closures. There will be no service between Stratford and Shenfield on both days, while Sunday morning services between Paddington and Ealing Broadway will be suspended until 7:45 AM.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Line will not run between Wembley Park and Aldgate for the entire weekend, significantly affecting commuters traveling across central London.
The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will also experience major shutdowns, with no services operating between Bank or Tower Gateway and Canning Town or Lewisham. Additionally, the Stratford to Canary Wharf route will be closed.
London Overground services are among the hardest hit:
The Weaver Line and Liberty Line will be completely closed.
On Sunday, the Mildmay Line will have no service between Willesden Junction and Richmond.
The Windrush Line will see multiple closures, including routes between Highbury & Islington and destinations such as Clapham Junction, Crystal Palace, and West Croydon.
Further disruptions affect the Piccadilly and District Lines, where eastbound trains will not stop at Barons Court until June. Passengers are advised to travel to Hammersmith and double back if needed.
As usual, the Waterloo & City Line will remain closed over the weekend.
Replacement bus services will operate on several affected routes, but Transport for London has warned that journeys are likely to take longer than normal.
Authorities strongly advise passengers to check routes in advance, allow extra travel time, and consider alternative transport options where possible.
